Pizza Worx Offers Casual Italian Dining in The Outpost Building

Pizza Worx is a family-friendly quick service restaurant that recently opened on Hollywood Boulevard, just west of Las Palmas Avenue. It is located on the ground floor of a historic, two-story building on the world-famous Walk of Fame. Across the street from the restaurant is the Egyptian Theatre, currently closed for renovations. As the renaissance of Hollywood Boulevard continues, this new tenant will appeal to hungry locals and tourists seeking a slice of pizza before or after a show.

The new restaurant is housed in the mixed-use complex known as The Outpost Building (6701—6723 Hollywood Boulevard). The property, which features elements of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, was constructed in 1920. The two buildings, each two stories, were once separated by a court. They are now connected by an arcaded passage on the second story. There is retail on the ground floor and office space upstairs.

The previous tenant of the space at 6705 Hollywood Boulevard was Stefano’s Two Guys from Italy, a longstanding pizzeria, which closed in 2019. Pizza Worx had its grand opening in December 2022.

The storefront features floor-to-ceiling windows to attract customers and give diners a view of the Walk of Fame. The main signage is in plain font with “Pizza Worx” in red. Below the main signage is a full-width green awning that has the store name, tagline, address, and telephone number printed in white.

The interior has a clean, modern feel that encourages customers to feel welcome. The faux brick walls are decorated with large images of pizzas and ingredients. The long counter has glass partitions so that customers can see the employees building the pizzas. Once the toppings are placed, the pizzas are baked in a stainless-steel Wood Stone oven. There is an indoor dining area with ample tables adorned with red-and-white checkered table cloths.

Customers who choose to create their own pizzas have the choice of two different sizes: a 10” Small ($9.80 for unlimited toppings), or a 12” Medium ($11.99 for cheese, $12.99 for two toppings, and $14.99 for unlimited toppings). Only thin crust is available for both sizes. There is an impressive assortment of toppings to choose from: five sauces, seven cheeses, nine meats, two vegan meats, and thirteen vegetables.

Pizza by the slice is not available. But the 10” Small is designed for one person.

In addition to “Build Your Own Pizza,” the menu features a wide variety of “Specialty Pizzas.” The “Specialty Pizzas” are $9.80 for the 10” Small and $14.99 for the 12” Medium. Besides favorites such as “Combination,” “Hawaiian,” and “BBQ Chicken,” there are some unique options. One example is the “Spicy Meat Lover,” which consists of spicy red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, spicy chorizo, jalapeño, banana peppers, and red onion. The “Bianca”—which does not have sauce—has mozzarella, ricotta, extra virgin olive oil, and parsley.

The side orders on the menu include French fries ($5.49), onion rings ($11.99), and chicken wings ($16.99).

In addition to indoor dining, Pizza Worx offers carryout and delivery. Orders can be placed by calling 323-378-6650. The store is open Wednesday through Monday from 12:30pm to 8:00pm, and closed on Tuesday.

Pizza Worx is a modern take on the classic pizza establishment, offering a simple menu and impressive customization options. The company has differentiated itself through both the product and the experience. The new store diversifies the Hollywood landscape, and provides a source of gourmet pizza to the neighborhood.
